Rain, Risk, and Romance

Fall is upon us. The rain has made its appearance with a grand entrance.  Other day popped into Ulta to browse.  It had been sprinkling lightly when I entered the store, which I was in for about 45 minutes.  At one point began to hear roaring rain pounding down the roof of the store.

Finished my trip, walked outside and the parking lot was completely flooded!  Had to wade in water past my ankles to the car, which frankly passed me off as I was wearing a cute pair of suede booties! Forced to drive home slowly since the roads had become creeks, water splashing everywhere.  So yes, Fall is definitely here!

Yesterday signed up to begin web courses to obtain my Certified Risk Manager certification.  Super excited about it.

Today pulled my butt into gear, threw on my sneakers, and went for a fast walk.  Ended up walking 3.5 miles, including uphill back to home.  Have got to make this a habit.

Jordan and Candy stopped by and gave me Candy's bike. It is so cute!!!

Highlight of the week was...I met someone.  Someone absolutely fantastic.  So many top qualities and he checks off all those boxes I have in my head of an ideal man.  I'm surprised and delighted and looking forward to seeing where this will lead.

May Just Be An Annual Event

The sister's weekend was fabulous!  Spent tons of time on the beach, met up with brother Jay for Friday dinner and Sunday brunch, ate yummy Saturday dinner made by Erin all with items caught or grown by her, celebrated Eilene's birthday with gifts and cheesecake, and compared number of steps walked with Julie.

Here's a video of some of our adventures.

Single and Sister's Weekend!

Today is the day!!  The sister's weekend is here!  I'll be leaving today for Arch Cape and the sisters will be joining me tomorrow!!!  We are going to have a fabulous weekend of sun, sand, surf, shopping, and R&R rolled into one!

I really need this break right now.  Steve and I parted ways this week - we will remain friends but he is too busy with his business and I'm too busy enjoying life to try and maintain some half-ass long-distance relationship.  It's a good move.

Labor Day 2020

Holiday weekend has been fairly uneventful which is actually a good thing. Highlight of the weekend was when the stars aligned and was able to meet both boys for dinner Saturday night.

We met at Parker's in Castle Rock. Sam showed up and shortly after by Jordan, Candy and their 5-year old grandaughter Haylie. Of course we had to order the seafood fondue which is to die for.  Was a great dinner and I love seeing Jordan and Sam spar with one another. They crack me up!  They both traded hats for the pics - Jordan's newsboy hat with Sam's baseball hat.  Jordan is definitely not a baseball hat person but really rocks the vintage styles.

Yesterday morning directed Susan's grandkids in how to paint acrylic pour art.  Made me realize how happy I an that my kids are grown.  Back in the day people would say what I great teacher I would make based upon my parent's profession.  Teaching those kids reaffirmed my decision to not be surrounded by children every day!!

Last night Stubbs was brave enough to  check out the visiting deer across the street.  For an old guy he's got a lot of spunk.

Purchased a large canvas for 99 cents at Goodwill and today will be doing my own pour painting on it. Then it will be the countdown to Thursday afternoon to sister's weekend at the beach.  Cannot wait!!

That Darn Dog!

Typically when I go to the river to swim or enjoy the sun, Stubbs stays at home.  Besides my concern of him overheating, I wasn't sure how he would behave when I was in the water.  Decided to give the little pup a chance and took him with me to Willow Grove today after work. Boy was that a mistake!

We arrived and made our way to the beach just like any other time.  He followed right along behind me.  I found a sandy spot, laid out the blanket and towel, and turned to pick up Stubbs.  Hmm... he wasn't there.

I called him. I whistled.  I began searching up and down the river shore. Could not find him anywhere.  He had simply disappeared! Anxiety began to set in as I imagined he had been scooped up by a hawk or eagle and was at that moment being eaten.

A neighboring beachgoer volunteered to watch my blanket so I could drive around the park to find my missing dog. Thankfully, as I made my way to the rig, in front of me were two teenage boys coming toward me with my precious, scruffy, eight pound pile of fur in their arms!  Stubbs!!

The boys said they found him walking along the path. They called my phone but of course I had left it while searching.  I almost burst into tears when my runaway was returned to me.  Covid be damned, I gave each boy a hug for returning to me my beloved partner in crime.

After that traumatic episode, waded in the river with Stubbs in my arms, gently holding him to paddle in the water.  Back to our blanket and put him on a leash to prevent any more shenanigans.  Didn't stay much longer as his escape put a damper on my mood.

Came home, had dinner, and now I'm relaxing with a clay mask upon my face while watching the 1935 David Copperfield movie with Freddy Bartholomew.

Burgundy, Blonde and Golden Boy

Yesterday I stood in Walmart with two boxes of burgundy dye in my hands, comtemplating a new color.  Decided not to act on a whim so put the boxes back and decided to sleep on it.

Sleep did the trick and I found myself right back at Wally World on my lunch break, picking up the burgundy along with a bleach frost it box.

Processed my hair with the burgundy, rinsed, dried, then pulled strands through the cap and applied the bleach.  Wrappe<d my head in the kit included plastic bag and waited for the blond to appear.

Washed, conditioned and dried my hair.  The pictures look red but the color actually is burgundy/blonde. I think I love the result!!

Tonight I'm watching Golden Boy, 1939, starring Barbara Stanwyck and William Holden.  A very young William Holden in his first leading role.  Hard to even recognize him as he is so young.
