Glass, Dolls, and Bob

Life has been going good!  Had my 3-month checkup with my doctor last week and it went swimmingly!  Have lost 46 lbs, have quit smoking, and my bloodwork and my blood pressure was fabulous!  Got my flu shot and let her know I've scheduled my mammogram and my eye exam.  She couldn't find anything to complain about!  She also removed one drug and cut another one in half.  This week I broke out my skinny jeans and they fit!!

Also received a promotion at work which was greatly appreciated!

Speaking of work, in late September we all met up in a Seattle glassblowing workshop. First time I'd met in person my teammates of two years. We learned how to create a glass object - mine was a starfish imprint in shades of blue. Fun group, fun activity, and it was worth the travel time.

Here's my finished glass art.

Finally finished my batch of painted Christmas cards for 2026. Decided to do watercolor scenes - I probably needed 30 but ended up painting 50!  Just got carried away!

Here's a sample:

In addition, the urge to paint rocks overcame me a couple weeks ago so I broke out river rocks from my craft stash and went to work using my acrylic markers. When complete and sealed, Jordan and Candy volunteered to hide them around town for people to find and keep.

One of my rocks they hid was found by someone who posted their treasure on the Cowlitz County Rocks Facebook page to which I belong. Makes me happy when I can provide a smile to someone!

Another project I finished this week was a $1.99 doll from Goodwill. It was dressed in gaudy purple and a feather boa and had seen better days.  I stripped it then used vintage fabric and jewelry to refashion her. Also discarded the blonde wig and red hat she was sporting and replaced it with yarn hair. She's now looking cozy and cute with one exception - her face!  It definitely looks goofy but I haven't figured out the best way to fix it. Paint it over then add new features? Sew on a couple of large ears to fit her mousey features?  Pull a knitted scarf over her face?  I'll continue my meditation and Pinterest surfing until I find the best solution!

Got a wild hair and decided to cut my hair into a bob. Perused Pinterest and YouTube until I found a step by step DIY guide involving three ponytails and scissors. Took the plunge; however, needed to have the back fixed so daughter-in-law Candy helped to even my hair all around. It turned out great!  Super happy with the length and my hair looks healthier without all the dry length pulling it down.

And that's it for now!  Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner?
