Driftwood Art at a Bargain Price!

Was browsing Pinterest (as always) and ran across the following inspirational driftwood picture:

It was for sale - for over $7,000!!!  You've got to be kidding me!!!

Decided to make my own driftwood art based upon the above. I first started with a thin round shell as the moon.  Decided it wasn't big enough so picked up a metal pizza platter at Walmart for 88 cents. Painted it, dried it, then decided I liked the shell better. Painted a black branch silver that was leftover from Halloween, added some acrylic baubles and voila! !

If anyone is interested,  I'll sell for a steal of $5,000!!! 😉

Oh the Mystery of an Active Imagination!

Well tackled the mystery piece of driftwood today. Tried it first for chuckles as a sloth then recreated it as a flowering cactus. It's the little things in life that give me a cheap thrill!!

Sloths and Sleeping In

Oh Friday so happy you are here!  It's been a long week!

Preparing for a work trip on Sunday to Texas. Last minute trip for two-days of meetings. Hopefully that will be the last trip for this year!

Prepping for the bazaar on the 12th. Writing up price tags, organizing items, and reaching into my creative abyss to stir up last minute ideas to bring to fruition. Unfortunately, I'm tired today. So the mind is willing but the body is saying "take it easy girl!!"

Last night I treated myself to a Chinese dinner all on my own. My fortune was so perfect!

Also shown is a piece of driftwood for which my mind has been contemplating over and over. How should it be painted?  What picture is it trying to tell?  I asked several friends and family and the ideas were:

  • Whale
  • Cactus
  • Mitten
  • Hand, perhaps holding a flower
  • Cougar
  • Sloth (yes, a sloth and the scary thing is it makes sense!)
So here's to more crafts, sleeping in, and surviving the lone star state!!

Congrats Cubs!

How exciting that after 108 years the Cubs finally won the World Series!  The Cubs were my dad's favorite team, probably because they were underdogs for so long. My brother in law Gary wore my dad's Cubs shirts every night of the games so I think that was a great help in getting them to the win.  I know my dad is cheering in Heaven after that super Cubs win last night!!

Really? I Mean Really?

Ran across this on Instagram on a makeup artist's site I follow. I found it creepy. I mean, let a little girl be a little girl, not dressed up as some super made up sex pot!!  I read the comments to see if anyone else found this disturbing - none of them did!  Some even said "oh my little girl wants to be a makeup artist!"  But one that looks like this?  Let's aspire for our daughters to be confident and intelligent, not overly made up objects of outside beauty only.

Throwing Logic Out the Window

Halloween 2016 in the Books!

Survived another Halloween!  Dressed up with the HR crew at work as Seahawks, including an old pair of dingy white sneakers I painted green and blue.  Made for a fun Monday.

Arrived home and prepared for an onslaught of trick or treaters, which started about 5:30. Steve came by to experience the wonder of a Lexington Halloween.  Had close to 400 before I ran out of candy and had to turn the porch light off. Best part was seeing former stepson Dylan, his wife and two kids. Dylan was wearing a Batman outfit he had made and it was awesome.

Was also nice to see how polite the kids were this year - lots of thank you's and Happy Halloween.

Happy birthday to my mom today!  Miss you still and will miss you always!
