Friday found my beau and me cruising to Silverdale, which is near Bremerton, WA. We checked into the Silverdale Beach Hotel, which led us to think it was on the beach. It was actually located more on an inlet rather than a beach - rock and sand and smaller surf. The hotel was nice, especially since our vacation was free; I had two nights free along with two $25 off dinner coupons and two free breakfast coupons. Score!! In addition, we were able to upgrade to a suite at no charge so that made us happy! We were on the third floor room with a balcony right over the water; the suite also included a fireplace and jacuzzi tub so we were in heaven!
After lunch we browsed the local mall (hello...shopping is part of a divine vacation) and then we cruised around Silverdale to check out the sights, which included a waterfront park. Friday evening found us having dinner at Josef's, the hotel restaurant, then drinking a few homemade "chocolate birthday cake" martinis in the room. Yum!
Saturday morning we made our way to Bremerton to catch the ferry to Seattle. It took about an hour to get to Seattle, where we disembarked then began sightseeing in the big city. Our intent was to hit Pike Place Market; however, after lunch at Ivar's (with the best clam chowder) we ended up strolling the wharf, including a visit to the Ivar's store; a closing sale at another souvenir store; then a trip through the Seattle Aquarium, which neither of us had ever seen. At that point we were nearing the time for the return trip to Bremerton so we skipped Pike Place and made our way back to the ferry. In about 1.50 hours, we were back to our hotel where we recuperated from our day of walking.
Sunday arrived too soon! After breakfast we cleaned up, packed up, checked out, then made our way home. Our main topic of conversation during our trip home? Our next trip destination!!
