Bun or Bust

Now that my hair is longer, I've been finding cute styles on Pinterest to try. I've mastered the bun head but there are some nifty braids and ponytails I'd like to try.

With that in my head the other night boredom set in so it was the perfect time to play around with the strands.

Who was I trying to kid?  The pics look so easy but none of them were working in my favor. I needed another five hands or perhaps another five inches of hair to accomplish these styles. I'll stick with the bun for now!! 😡👎

Paintbrush Play

Yeah this is what you do when you get up at 4am!

Started this paintbrush project last night. Was startled awake this morning for no reason, other than my nose was stuffed. Went ahead and arose, made my coffee, then finished my old paintbrush art.

Here's to a long day!!

Congrats Graduate!

Congratulations to my nephew Cole who graduated from the University of Oregon on Monday!

Oh how I remember graduating from Central Washington University. So nice to be done with long nights drinking coffee, hours spent in the library, very dry economics lectures, and tons of homework.  But college also provided me with a ton of memories - new friends, the parties, the hangovers, and the sense of independence and adventure.

Good luck to Cole as he makes his mark in the working world, putting his degree to the test. He may think his learning is over but his real education has just begun!

Beachy Newspaper Box Finis!

Here's my big task of the day. Finally decided to work on the newspaper box.

I painted and stenciled the box then put a stencil on the front and put a light bulb inside so it will light up at night. While it was drying I made a driftwood sailboat to sit on top.

Threading the light into the box was a hassle! Finagled a bigger hole in the bottom to get the plug in through. Then hammered/screwed a hole in top big enough to fit wire from a hanger so the bulb could hang properly. Ugh! But I did it!!

I'm beat! This project took quite awhile but happy it's done. 😊😊😊

Rocks and Recognition

Today I surprised my fellow co-workers with rocks painted for each of them. I tried to make each one with traits inherent to each person. I put them on their desk then it was cool to hear them when they arrived to work and were surprised by their rock gifts.

I was also surprised when they announced I was the recipient of a recognition award for the commercial department. Blew me away as it wasn't expected, especially since I've only been there four months. Yippers! Made my day!

What didn't make my day was not feeling well. Was feeling queasy at lunch; when I returned to work I was holding back from woofing my cookies so decided to leave at 2pm. Came home and took a very long nap - one of those hard ones where you struggle to wake. Must have needed it as I felt better this evening.

Tomorrow is Thursday and the forecast for the weekend is hot weather. That's a reason to celebrate. 🌞

Gangsta Rap and Garage

Today was spent dedicated to the garage. Spent over 4 hours moving, cleaning, organizing and sweating in the garage, all the while with Biggie Smalls blaring in the background to keep my motivation going. I have a lot of tubs so packed up a bunch of keeper stuff and proceeded to make a big pile for the dump. Ugh. So it's not completely finished but enough where I can now freely pull the car all the way into the garage. Plus items are organized so I won't need to dig.

Before and after shots.

Tomorrow morning Lake Guy and I are off to fish again at Willow Grove. Last Sunday the poles were quiet all down the line. Finally, my bell went off and I hit that sucker. Alas no fish but the little varmint hit LG's pole and he reeled in "my" nice steelhead. Tomorrow better be my day.

Jordan and Candy have caught the fishing bug. They've been fishing at Silver Lake and Jordan even caught a bass.

Seafood, Shortcake and Swearing

Thursday Jordan, Candy, Sam and I held a belated birthday dinner for Jordan's 25th. We met up at Red Lobster and it was yummy, although the service was a bit slow. They even brought ice cream out for Jordy as we all sang happy birthday.

After dinner Sam and I stopped at Fred Meyers. It was my turn for Friday treat day at work so figured I would whip up strawberry shortcake. And by whip up I mean slicing berries, adding store-bought glaze, and purchasing Franz shortcake cups.  It was a big hit at work.

Friday after work I got my reel restrung then hit the Cowlitz. All was going fine until I got snagged and had to cut my line. Damn reel did not behave after that and ended up so tangled that, after a few choice swear bombs in the mode of my father, I gave up and returned home. I normally laugh things off but I was in a mood last night.

Today I fixed the reel and am ready to return to the scene of the swearing to land me a steelhead.  Will have to make my way through a family of geese who think the river spot is theirs, including the boat launch where they poop. Ugh. Am taking Lake Guy with me so he can see where I try to catch my limit.

Sunday we may go back to Willow Grove if I'm feeling it. I love fishing but somebody better step up their game and widen our variety of activities. I been there done that with the fishing obsessed and this diva ain't playing that game again. 😡

Uh oh sounds like I may have another swear fest moment!!
