I'm Sick...Wahhhh!

 I don't like being sick!

House to myself this weekend so Viking stayed Thursday and we were ready for a trip to Costco on Friday when I got off work. We spent the evening cooking our first meal together. He even gifted me lip gloss and a hockey jersey he got back in the day the overseas.

Waking up Friday morning I was not feeling well - hot, cold, nauseous, headache. I barreled through work and participated in our Friday Zoom call as one of the Clue suspects, M. Burnette with the knife. Viking even made me breakfast.

However, the illness did not subside so we threw in the towel, he headed home and I've spent the day in bed sipping 7-Up.  Thankfully have not thrown up although I wonder if that would make me feel better.  And I even got a flu shot a few weeks ago damnit!!

Here's to feeling better tomorrow!

Photogrid Fabulous

Discovered a new process using the app Photogrid.  When editing my photos, I'm able to "lasso" an image, cut it and save it as a new file. Then, via Photogrid, I'm able to overlay the picture on top of a new picture to create something fantastical! Here are a few of my latest projects.

Making Memories on the Road

The bad news is my blog has received none of my attention.  However, the good news is my life has been filled with so much adventure I haven't had time to write!

Two weeks ago Viking took me for a weekend trip to Hood River. Visited my first Goodwill Boutique and he gifted me the cutest Dooney & Burke purse.  Then we wandered the apple farm in Parkdale before joining sis Julie and her hubby Carl for dinner.

Dinner was awesome and the best part was when Julie surprised Viking with a birthday cake!  He was so surprised!

Saturday we visited Antiques & Oddities in Bingen.  We browsed for hours - lots of items at great prices. Mr. Spoil Me bought me the sweetest picture which reminds me of my sisters. I love it.

After Bingen, we visited Mary Jane and Walt then popped over to Eilene and Gary's for dinner. All these people Viking met and he's only scratched the family surface!

Sunday we had breakfast at Bettie's in Hood River before heading back to Parkdale to pick up a big variety of apples. On our way home we stopped in Cascade Locks for a big ice cream and walked the marina.  It was an absolutely lovely trip.

This last weekend I met Viking's sister and her husband (super friendly) then headed to Astoria for clam digging. The clams skunked us but it didn't matter as the sky was blue and sunny.

It's been so great spending time with someone who is intelligent, funny, and quick with a comeback.  Here's to more adventures in our future!

All Hail Glitter

Ran across a shirt for sale online and figured "I could do that!" Picked up a Walmart long-sleeve shirt and an iron on silver glitter transfer. Figured the skull might be too tricky so cut hearts instead. Ironed the hearts onto the shirt and voila! Copy cat shirt done.

Still on the fence as to whether or not I should cut it for the bare shoulders look.  And the picture doesn't do it justice - looks much better in person. Okay okay....it may not be an exact copy but it works!

Ganglian, Galibi, and Grove

Last week was packed to the max with activities!

Doctor's appointment for a checkup Wednesday morning. Vitals and blood work and even weight all looked good.  Have had a bump on my foot for the last few months. Is it a bone spur? Blood clot? Cancer? Doc looked it over and diagnosed it as a harmless ganglion cyst. Last time I was diagnosed with one of those I was about 10.  Had just learned to cartwheel and spent hours upon hours practicing my newfound acrobatic skills...wound up with a cyst on my wrist.  No reason to worry so got my flu shot and went on my way.

Spent Wednesday afternoon on a 4-hour CRM Finance webinar. Standard deviation, bar charts, mean and mode does not make for an enthusiastic session and for that reason I started the hardest class first to get it out of the way.

Thursday morning off to the dentist for a cleaning then continued the financial webinar Thursday afternoon.  Highlight of Thursday was when new beau, of whom shall be referred to as the Viking, came to visit and take me to dinner.  We had our sights set on Chinese as we had both been jonesin for it since we first met.  First Chinese place - takeout only.  Second - takeout only.  We drove to three more places and all were takeout only!!!  Only Asian place open was a new Korean joint; after reading the menu decided to skip it as Bulgari, Galibi, and Donkatsu were not in our vernacular and we weren't in the mood to roll the restaurant dice. At that point the hangry had set in so we gave up and hit Stuffy's for chow.

Short day of work on Friday so my Viking returned.  Lots of running around showing him the sights of Cowlitz County including my favorite Willow Grove.  We walked downtown Longview, having lunch at Cow Deli and hitting the thrift shops.  Viking found  sweater for himself and dinosaur head for his daughter; I found a $2 vest and sunglasses.

Friday night we gave in to our craving, picked up the damn takeout Chinese, and shared dinner with Stan and Susan.  Those two are so funny it was hard to eat we were laughing so hard. It was a great end to our Friday.

Saturday was recruited to watch Haylie, my 5-year old great grandaughter (by marriage mind you.)  She calls me Grandma G.G. for great grandma. She had new jeans that were a bit too big so we headed to Goodwill to find her a belt.  Of course clearance queen that I am, found her several bargains, including a vest and holiday dress, each for a $1.50.  And of course the belt for $1.

Arriving home, Susan's grandchildren were visiting so the rest of the day Haylie hung out with them. Easiest babysitting job I've ever had!  Highlight for the kids were the mummy cupcakes Susan made - yum!

Saturday also included the viewing of Stan receiving a new gun safe.  He thought it was 600 pounds when in reality it was 1,200 pounds. Six store employees loaded it and just two son-in-laws unloaded it. Was quite the sight and sound if you include the moaning, grunting and swearing involved in the process.

Now it's Sunday and the rain is pouring!!! It's going to be a day of R&R binge watching the second season of "You" on Netflix.  Counting the days until Friday when Viking is taking me to Hood River for an early celebration of his upcoming birthday. Will make a jaunt to the Washington side to spend time with Julie, Eilene, and Mary Jane. I have no doubt he will pass the family scrutiny with flying colors.  Viking also knows of a boutique Goodwill in Hood River so that is high on my Gorge to-do list!  Five days and counting til our next adventure!!

Sons, Laundry, and Road Trip

Happy National Son's Day!  Love my sons to the moon and back!! ❤

Had an adventure last night.  The washing machine is on the fritz so was forced to do a load at the laundromat. Been a long time since I had to visit one of those!

What used to involve a bucket of quarters has now evolved to a single card. Buy a laundry card for a buck, load it with money, set it on the machine reader and voila! Washing machine (and dryer for that matter) begins.  No hard cash required!

Once I mastered the technique had to help a fellow patron in need.  He had set his debit card on the washer slot and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. He had even brought in $5 in quarters in prep for laundry. I schooled him in the new high tech way of mat machines and he was good to go.

And it may be Thursday but today is actually my Friday!  Have the day off tomorrow as I'm taking a road trip to Astoria with Mr. Fab. Cannot wait!!
