Misfits, Meals, and Monday

Sunday and I'm sitting on my bed watching a lame movie while the aroma of dinner wafts upstairs. Smells yummy and we will be eating at 4pm.

Although laundry should have been tackled, instead spent this day painting rocks.  Friday finished a surprise canvas for my Aunt Ruth in memory of her late daughter,, which will be shipped to her this week.

Last Thursday had dinner with Steve at Nipps. Our routine hasn't changed...he gets the Banner burger special and I get the shrimp basket with a piece of halibut.  Unfortunately, the dining room was still closed so we sat in the car and ate our meal.

Over the red so Saturday Abbie colored my hair with more brown and blonde and trimmed it slightly shorter. Hard to believe last summer my hair was to the middle of my back!  Was time for the new do and am enjoying the bob.

Watched "The Misfits" last night with Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, and Montgomery Cliff for the first time.  Outstanding film...love Marilyn but Gable knocked it out of the park with his performance.

Tomorrow is Monday so let's make it a memorable week!

Sarcastic Zen Sayings

• Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

• Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone.

• The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire.

• Some days you’re the bug; some days you’re the windshield.

• If you ever feel you are worthless remember that you are full of expensive organs.

• It’s always darkest before dawn. So if you’re going to steal your neighbor’s newspaper, that’s the time to do it.

• Don’t be irreplaceable. If you can’t be replaced, you can’t be promoted.

• Always remember that you’re unique, just like everyone else…

• Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

• Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

• If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not for you.

• No matter what happens, somebody will find a way to take it too seriously.

• If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

• The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

• A closed mouth gathers no foot.

• Duct tape is like ‘The Force’. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

• Generally speaking, you aren’t learning much when your lips are moving.

• Experience is something you don’t get until just after you need it.

• If you think nobody cares if you’re alive, try missing a couple of car payments.

Points, New Path, and Porky's

Received $250 for my CRM certification of which we are given points to purchase gift cards or other items. I bought Walmart, Amazon, and Ulta cards.  One of my Amazon items arrived on Friday...a new diffuser. Couldn't resist because it looked so funky!  Tried it and am pretty happy with the set up, although I'm still figuring out the tips and tricks.

Spent time Saturday morning painting rocks before taking a 2 mile walk on the Castle Rock riverfront dike. First time I've walked that path and was pretty impressed.  Distance markers, dog park, paved walkway, and scenic view. Was lucky to hit a clearing with blue sky; had barely finished when it started to pour. Tried to walk today hoping to hit another calming the storm but it didn't happen.

Saturday night met up with Blue Jacket Diva Janel for dinner at Porky's Public House.  Had a White Claw Cucumber and Lime seltzer...light without the sweetness.  We had dinner and talked from 6pm to 10pm - yes, tons to catch up!! We finished off the night with a Texas Sling, a blended, thick concoction of kahlua, Bailey's, Amaretto, Bicardi 151 rum, and a big scoop of tasty!  Back in the eighties we'd order this drink (with a limit of two due to its potency) at the local hot spot aka meat market Bart's where it was called the "Screaming Orgasm."  Was just as delectable as when I was squashed in with a group of people dancing to local bands singing Bon Jovi tunes.

Today dropped a ton of my painted rocks off at Michaels then began painting more.  Gave away my original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang; one of the gals on the FB rock club really wanted it so decided to paint another.

As always, watched vintage classic movies, including Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. She is so classy but fun. Had to tape a section and send it to little sis Erin as we always find this scene funny. Ghastly darling!

I Did It Again!

To top off the week, had my annual performance review today and was promoted to Account Manager!  It's nice when all the extra effort and learning is rewarded.

Alas, as the saying goes, with every up there is a down.  This morning at my desk, my eye caught movement in the bathroom.  It was a little field mouse inspecting Stubb's food dish.  Yikes!  Me no likey mice! I quickly scrambled to grab Stan so he could check out the rodent threat. He couldn't find the little bastard. I grabbed one of cats as a hired assassin, especially since it was one of. them who dragged the intruder into the house.  Stubbs was not too fond of a Maine Coon invading his space so my attempt to kitty murder the mouse was short lived.  Stan set up traps tonight so hopefully the vermin threat will be swiftly eliminated. 🐀 🐈‍⬛

This afternoon my doctor's office called to schedule my  colonoscopy. Ugh!  I pushed it to the end of April.  😳

Another good news was the Columbia River Reader printed a correction to my incorrectly published Haiku. 😊

Best news of all? Tomorrow is Friday!!

I Did It!!

Today was a red letter day! I received an email saying my test results for my last risk course was available.  This was the test which was so complex with tons of calculations and for which I had spent many moments worrying and praying for a passing grade.

Went on line, opened the results and bam!  Passed the test!!!  A wave of relief poured over me! This last class satisfied the Certified Risk Manager requirements. Whoop whoop!

To celebrate, went to dinner tonight with Jordan and Candy. Had a few martinis and enjoyed their company.

China, Chickens, and Cool Hand Luke

Started a new medicine about a week before the beach trip. The trip arrived and I was feeling more and more bloated. When Monday arrived, my hands and feet were puffy and sore. Called to doctor and the end result was to stop the mess. Thank God!  This resulted in losing 8 pounds last week as I had put on so much water weight due to that damn pill!

Spurred on by the number of times I had to rest while ascending the beach steps, decided to begin walking again. Live so close to the dike, this was an obvious path. Been walking on my lunch break including the steep hill up and down to the house.

Took a break from painting but back at it again. Brought home a bag full of Arch Cape sand churned rocks which are flat, smooth and perfect for painting.

Painted my nails matching red Thursday night. Was tired of plain nails covered in paint!

Cleaned my room yesterday then had a dinner date with Steve: we've known each other for so long he's a nice fall back for male company. Dinner at Parker's then watched Cool Hand Luke. Nice evening catching up.

Back in January, had a weak moment and ordered a couple of jersey tee shirts off of Facebook. A cute Yorkie one and a chicken design. What sucked is that once the order was placed I learned they were coming from China!  Although the website said orders would be placed within 7 to 10 days, it was weeks until the package was sent, even after a few emails to the company.

The good news is the package finally arrived! The bad news is they were two different shirts than my order.  Arrghh!! No Yorkie, no gray shirt, and two chickens!  Contacted company and they are going to give me a credit.  Ugh!

Discovered a new free photo app called "Polish."  Played around with the recent beach group pic. This will be a fun app to explore.

From Beach to Bed

There is truly nothing better than the beach.

Arrived at the beach house last Thursday afternoon with Stubbs in tow.  Only sprinkling a little so we hit the sand, seeking treasure.  Found two buoys and rope so hauled those to the house to string on the buoy tree.

Thursday night turned into a stormy, rainy, surf bending brawl.  Thankfully the sun came out and it was clear Friday when the gals arrived that afternoon.  We drank, ate shrimp tacos with chunky guacamole, and laughed.  One excitement was a low flying helicopter which appeared to be looking for a missing person.  Found out later a hiker had fallen 100 feet and had to be transported by flight.

After a big breakfast, the girl squad hit the beach Saturday morning for a walk toward the waterfall and caves.  Blue sky, sandy shore, and bouncing from rock to rock to avoid an incoming tide which we severely misjudged.

On to Cannon Beach for browsing, bite to eat, and bakery.  Well, along with a little chocolate to top it off.  Then it was relax/nap time until a fabulous bruchetta appetizer and fettuccine dinner.  We ended the night with a mean game of Head's Up, a wild combination of charades, password, trivia, and silliness.

After the beach weekend, it was back to reality. Started Monday morning with a Covid test (negative!) at the hospital to prepare for my sleep study that night.  Yes, I snore like a bulldozer and feared sleep apnea was involved so, after waiting a year due to our new normal, was finally able to get in and spend the night being observed.

My bed for the night

Arrived by 8pm, checked into my room, filled out paperwork then waited for my hookup with the tech. A plethora of sticky tabs were attached to my head, legs, face, neck, two sensors were placed within my nose, and my chest and waist were wrapped with monitors.  Then, after snuggling into bed, I was turned on and tuned into the plug in so my every breath, snort, cough, and gurgle could be recorded.  The tech turned out the light and I watched TV before falling asleep. Only highlight was my midnight bathroom break when the tech unplugged me, wrapped wires around me, and I carefully relieved myself without being electrocuted.

Wakeup came bright and early at 6am. Lights on, wires off, and was home by 6:30. Am now expecting a call from the doctor for the full report.

ReFace Rewind

Sister Erin turned me on to the Reface app. Here are some newer videos I made.  Crack me up!!!

The Beach is Calling

Tomorrow I'll be clocking out at noon and heading to the beach!!!  My gal pal co-workers will be joining me on Friday and we will be spending the weekend with our favorite visitor R&R.  Lots of beaching, eating, sight seeing and drinking is on the agenda.  Let me tell you...there is nothing better than waking up to the sound of the surf!

Found out over the last two weeks that I passed two of my CRM tests. Yippee!  Just waiting now for the hellacious test that could go either way but may not hear the results until April.

Last Sunday bagged up a bunch of my painted rocks and hid them around Regal Cinema.  Most were movie-themed so figured that location was apropos.  That bag of rocks was so crippling heavy that by the time I was done I had developed a hitch in my giddy up!!

Shrinking the rock pile meant painting replacements this week.   Obviously I'm still on a movie kick!
