Sitting On My Back Porch Enjoying My Evening

Summer is in the Air 🏖️🌞

It's starting to smell like summer!!!

After ignoring the jumanji jungle in my backyard, Sam stopped by Wednesday to mow some of it. He actually showed up about 7:30; at ten to nine he was still mowing even though it was dark outside . Went out back and told him to stop as he couldn't see plus it was time for quiet hours less the neighbors begin to pillage my house!

He showed back up Thursday and finished the back. Before he could start the front a couple of his buddies drove by, saw him, and stopped by to visit. It was nice seeing them and catching up on their lives.

Today woke up early but remained in bed til 7. Got my coffee, cleaned the kitchen, organized, swapped out the tablecloth on the porch table, vacuumed, then had to pop a Benadryl as my allergies we're kicking in bad.  Of course this led to a short nap before taking my shower and heading into work.  Trying to wrap up the tail end of the last big project.  Unfortunately, could only work 2.5 hours as the Benadryl clouded my brain and gave me the sleepies. Will return tomorrow early to get the job done.

During work Jordan called to see if they could do laundry at my house. No problem there. I was over at Goodwill browsing when he text to say thanks and that he had gone ahead and mowed the front yard. I just love my kind, thoughtful boys!

Picked up a new razor this week and it is rad! Like to use men's razors as the girly ones don't last long and are more expensive. Its a Hydro 5 with cushion. When I started using it on my legs, it felt like there was a guard on it as it shaved so smooth. No guard and that cushion worked great, so much so that I sent an email to Schick to commend them on the quality of the razor. They thanked me but alas no free razor coupon!!

Picked up Stubbs a new 50cent Easter chicken this week from Walmart. He loves it but there is no squeaker in for him to tear out so he's bummed.

Looking forward to the beach trip next weekend where I'll be helping out with Chelsea's wedding.

Let's make this a great week!!!

Cubicle, Cats, and Steven Hill

Another weekend has come to an end .

Last week received an increase at work. Nothing major but every little bit helps. Sad news was we lost one of our co-workers but we wish him well. Unexpected good news is I snagged his old cubicle . Nope, don't let moss grow under these heels! Cubicle is much bigger and has three windows with a better view so I wasted no time transfering my items over to it. Looks pretty good once my decor and pics were set up.

Saturday Steve came to visit. That morning we discovered a beautiful gray cat hanging out on my front porch napping on my wicker sofa. No collar so ended up posting her pic on a neighborhood Facebook site. Later in the afternoon a gal who lives a few houses away stopped by to pick her up. Apparently she was babysitting her mom's dog so the cat snuck over to my place for some peace and quiet.

Last night while Steve watched "The Cowboys" (and reciting the dialogue as he's seen it so many times), I continued to watch the original Mission Impossible series on my phone. Was one of Mom's favs and so it's been enjoyable to watch and linger down memory lane.  The first season had one of my favorite actors, Steven Hill, as the lead. He was so young! Only knew of him as the Chief D.A. from Law & Order and here he was in his prime. Had to read his backstory - he was an Orthodox Jew who followed the Sabbath, which meant no work from Friday at sundown to Saturday at dusk. Apparently that caused a work problem so his part became smaller and smaller until he was just listening to the tape before it self-destructed and that was it for him in the episode. The second season he was replaced by Peter Graves.

Today after stopping at my work to prepare my taxes (yes, queen of procrastination) I arrived home to find another cat hanging out on my porch. Beautiful, all black fur baby with again no collar. Took a pic but she must have had her fill as when I checked later she was gone. Is this a sign I'm becoming a cat lady? Do these felines simply possess a sixth sense and know when the time has come to begin seeking out poor, over 50 single gals to adopt and make their own? Dammit, I vow to fight their influx and will continue to resist the cat lady premonition they appear to be delivering!

Painted my nails again tonight. This has become an ongoing habit; just about every three days the polish is drug out, Pinterest is scanned, and new artwork is laden upon my short nails. Have to admit it's relaxing but my little stubbs are taking a beating from the acetone.

Let's make this week memorable!!

Magnolia Monday

This weekend looked out to the backyard and my magnolia tree caught my eye. The last few years it quit blooming and had become quite brittle. Almost chopped it down last summer. However, there upon it's sagging branches sprouted a flower along with several green buds getting ready to bloom!  Despite a weathered, cracked and fragile exterior, there is still life within it's veins.

My little tree gives me hope. My life has been filled with trials and tribulations and I've often felt weathered, beaten down, and defeated. Just when you are ready to pack it all in, a tiny sprout of life springs forth and you see a glimpse of flower in your future.  I'm going to continue gaining inspiration from my magnolia that even when something looks dead on the outside, there is still life inside waiting to burst forth at the least unexpected moment.

Happy April Fool's Day

Yes I haven't written in forever but I've been busy!

Work has been taking up all my weekend time. We were on a deadline for a project so every Saturday and Sunday was dedicated to getting the job done. Yesterday finally finished up the last bit of it which made me so happy! Beings I'm always the only one there on the weekend I was able to dance a little jig to celebrate.

Received an award last week along with my coworker. We both finally had our annual reviews which rocked. Now just waiting to see what kind of raise will be coming forth.

Got a new phone a couple of weeks ago. My old one was about seven years old so technology had passed it by. Unable to update apps and constantly deleting pics as there was no memory. New phone is so much better with tons of room to hold massive data. Also has an expanded selection of emojis! 😁😎😜🤑🥵😇🥳🤢

Did carve out some time last week to get my hair colored. It had been quite some time and the grays were beginning to take over. Had her add in a few auburn streaks so feeling funky!

A couple weekends ago had a nice lunch with Julie, Arlene and Lynn. This last Saturday night carved out time to spend with Jordan, Candy, Trista, and Marie at Lynn's for another game night. All was fun until we started playing Never Have I Ever, which traumatized me.

Tonight cleaned the kitchen then washed the dog which are attributed to the two cups of coffee after work. Hope they don't come back to bite me when it's bedtime.

Have been into painting my nails lately. Currently follow nail and hair sites on Instagram for inspiration. Trying to figure out who in their right mind can pull off the current trend of long stiletto or coffin nails. No one can function with nails like that unless they are a stripper!

My brother-in-law posted on Facebook tonight that he and my sister Erin were moving to Hawaii. WTH?  I immediately texted her to find out what was going on. She then texted back a reminder that it's April Fool's Day. Duh. I fell for that one big time!

That's it for now!
