Welcome to My WTF Weekend!!

I'm happy to have this Sunday to recover my weekend, which included the following:

Girl's Night Out - Saturday night a bunch of us girls, including my Blue Jacket Divas Perla and Jan, all carpooled to King's Buffet in Vancouver for a seafood dinner.  Done with dinner, we visited TJ Maxx and Burlington in Jantzen Beach before making our way to the club at Red Lion.  It had been ages since my last visit there but it was still fun.  We drank, we danced, we people-watched, and we laughed.  Michael's sister Angela met us there as well; she and I have the best time together!  We finally rolled out of there around midnight, which made for a 1am bedtime for me!

On Line Dating - It's all coming back to me now; the first few days were an adventure but now I'm getting into weird territory.  Been chatting and texting with tons of men - older, younger, professional, blue collar - I'm an equal opportunity dater.  However, I'm now going to refer to it as WTF on-line dating due to all the weirdness involved!!

Ended up meeting with a local PhD for coffee Friday night.  Tall, nice looking Midwesterner who has a long-term professional job.  Talked until we closed the coffee shop down then sat in the parking lot and talked and flirted some more. Cool, he has promise I thought.  That is, until the next day when he emailed me a picture of his private parts. WTF??  Apparently his PhD stands for Penis Here-on Display!

Saturday morning a very nice Portland insurance professional called me and we chatted for about an hour.  Great guy, intelligent, and the conversation flowed.  Haven't heard back from him since - WTF?

Also had an offer for dinner Saturday night from another normal-appearing local guy.  Had to make a rain check since I had plans with the girls,  We then made plans for Sunday lunch.  Sunday rolls around and he cancels because he is sick.  Another WTF?  Shit or get off the pot people!!!

With the rest of the men we've simply been exchanging messages or text.  Some "appear" normal while others are obviously not for this gal.  At least I take all of this with a grain of salt and a sense of humor!!  You've got to laugh or you will....well, laugh hysterically!!!

Today I cleaned  my room and watched the Seahawks game (they won!) while wearing my new Seahawks jersey.  My next entertainment was to Fred Meyer where I wandered around aimlessly while responding to continuing WTF text.  Arriving home, I made three pumpkin bread loaves and took a nap.  Tonight is The Walking Dead so I can watch the scary, undead creatures on TV rather than via my phone!!

Let's make it a wonderful week....it all has to go up from here!!!  Ahead of me for this week is calling every night to see if I've been called for jury duty; in addition, my regular gyno exam will be Wednesday morning.  All of this is working toward my two free nights and Halloween costume party at Spirit Mountain starting on Friday.  Can't wait til this week is officially over!!!

Cash, Carry, Convention, and Claustrophobia!!!

There's one downside to keeping busy on the weekend - it makes my two days off from work go too fast!  On Saturday I cruised to the Oregon Convention Center to meet up with sister Eilene, who invited me to attend the Cash and Carry Christmas Convention, which was a show for wholesalers to purchase items, on the spot, for their stores.  Before entering, Eilene surprised me with a sweet necklace which included the label "Fabulous" with a high heel dangling from it.  So me!!

Eilene's pimp hat!
The show was bargain central  Lots of people and lots of booths, although the most prevalent wares were scarves and jewelry.  We wandered and browsed and I was lucky enough to purchase a few items for the wholesale price, since I was Eilene's guest.  A few chunky necklaces, earrings for my Halloween twenties outfit, a few discount scarves, and a camel sweater shrug.  The only downside to this event?  So many people and so little room in the booths; at one point I was doing the Dorf shuffle to squeeze between people and view items for sale.  Made for a hot, sweaty, and claustrophobic experience!

Done with the convention, our next stop was Cascade Station strip mall by the airport.  I rarely visit these stores because traffic always seems to be congested, which was again the case yesterday.  We made our way to Red Robin for lunch and catch up with each other.  Salad and wine for Eilene; french onion soup, turkey sandwich, and Malibu Rum and Diet Coke for me!
Yeah, she made me try it on

After lunch we walked over to DSW shoes then browsed Home Goods next door.  At that point Eilene's knee protested more walking so we both departed as she made her way home and I made my way to Vancouver Mall.  I've been in search of a sequined topper or shrug for my twenties outfit; alas, after wandering the mall I left empty-handed as there was nothing there that fit the bill.

After the mall I stopped by the Salmon Creek Goodwill; picked up a few items, but still no sequined top.  I'm resigned to the fact that I will have to sew it myself to get exactly what I need, so that will be today's task.

And now it's Sunday, which means cleaning, laundry, and preparing for the week ahead!  Here's to having a great week Divas!!

Puttin Some Twenties Into My Fifties

I'm looking forward to a free weekend stay at Spirit Mountain Casino on October 31 - November 2, which means a Halloween party!!  What to wear, what to wear.  Considered Dorothy from Wizard of Oz - too juvenile.  A cop outfit - yawn.  Since I already have a fringe skirt, decided to go for a twenties theme.  Turned to Pinterest for accessory ideas - tons of information.  Also made me reflect on how damn good they looked back in the day - why don't we dress this way on a daily basis?  So chic and pulled together; granted, on most days I'm wearing a dress but nothing compared to the outfits below!

I've got one friend going with me to the costume party bash - anyone else in for the ride??

Crazy Calling My Name

TGIF!!!

Hanging with my homies!
Got a few things going on today so scheduled a vacation day.  Last night went out to the Lacey RAM -with several of my co-workers and boss to celebrate our efforts at work. Was a super dinner and paid for by the company so that was a plus!

Yesterday wore a cute outfit that was inspired my favorite site Pinterest.  Fake pleated leather skirt, cardigan and pearls - love it. Here's another before and after pic; haven't lost additional weight but at least I know how to style my size weight well!!

January 2014 vs Oct 2014
Working out today at 10, may try to squeeze in a hair appointment after that (serious gray needs covered along with a trim), then meeting up with Diva's Jan and Perla for  dinner and karaoke tonight!  Going to look for a Halloween outfit this weekend, which will probably include a trip to Goodwill.

Have a great weekend my friends!!!

Poor Diva Blog Needs Some Serious Attention!

Although my intent was there, my life overtook me in the last few weeks so there have been no blog entries.  Let's see, in a nutshell:

  • Spent a weekend in Lincoln City, during which time I met up with Michael's sister Angela for dinner then to see the Patti LaBelle concert at Spirit Mountain Casino (with free tickets!)  The show was awesome!  I tried not to cry but when she broke out singing Over the Rainbow it was all over!
  • Enjoyed time on the beach at Lincoln City along with Tanger Outlet Malls and eating at places where Michael and I shared our meals during our visits to the coast.
  • Cleaned and organized Michael's belongings that were in my garage.  Worked with Angela and Sam to sort out items to stay, items for Goodwill, and items for Angela to take back home for the family.
  • Made reservations at Spirit Mountain for a 2-day weekend free stay on October 31 and November 1. There will be a Halloween party that I will be attending; I threw out an invite to the Blue Jacket Divas.  Right now there are a couple who may be in for the trip; if no one goes with me, I will still throw on my costume (yet to be determined) and attend the party on my own!!
  • Took a month off from the gym but started back this week, working with the trainer.  Makes it easier to work out plus gives me incentive to attend when I'm committed to working with the gym owner.
  • Sam and I saw Gone Girl last weekend; great movie but I wish I had not read the book first as that took the whole mystery effect out of it.
  • In between all of the above there has been work, cleaning, laundry, and the usual daily suspects!
  • My crying spells are getting fewer; I actually went two days without the tears spilling over then out of the blue it hit me.  I can actually discuss Michael's death now without dissolving into a puddle.  When the gym owner asked me why I hadn't been in, I was proud of myself for being able to share the story with him calmly and without tearing up - that's progress!
Enough for now; I will write more when I have time to focus on creating a deep, thought-provoking story.
