Movies in Order for Sunday

There's something about an old movie on a Sunday that makes everything right in the world!  This morning, after cleaning the kitchen and living room and doing laundry, I ended up watching 1955's musical My Sister Eileen on TV.  Janet Leigh, Betty Garrett, and Jack Lemmon - they don't make movies like this anymore.

Another Monday Comes to Visit

Can't believe it's Monday already!!!  This weekend flew by - came home late Friday after dinner with friends, Saturday whizzed by then Sunday hit where I fit in the gym, groceries, then making four batches of zucchini bread in order to use up the veggies that Arlene gave me.  I added chocolate chunks to one batch, white chocolate chips to another, dried cranberries to the third, and blueberries to the last.  Into the freezer they went to be enjoyed at a later date.  I also whipped up a Thai salad, using the recipe from Trisha Yearwood's Food Network show.  The salad included edamame, which I've had been never used before - pretty good stuff!  The evening was topped off with a painting of my toenails.

Here's to everyone making it a wonderful week full of blessings!!!!

TGIF and Chit Chat!

The end of the week was a great time to get together with some of my favorite co-workers and break bread. We all met up at the nearby Mexican restaurant to sip margaritas, catch up on all of our activities, and laugh. Was a great start to my weekend!!!

Burlington and Bread

This weekend has been fruitful to say the least.  Friday Jordan texted me, excited to announce he had received his driver's license.  Awesome!!!  Then yesterday I met up with sister Julie in Portland to do a little shopping and lunch.  Julie gifted me with homemade jars of dilled beans, salsa, apricots, and strawberry jam. After hitting Burlington to browse, we then had lunch at Panera.  After visiting Michael in his new rehab facility, I stopped by Goodwill in Vancouver before cruising home.  Believe it or not but I bought nothing all day!

This morning, after vowing to sleep in, I made my way out of bed around 6:30....humph, I guess that is sleeping in for me!  Did two loads of laundry then whipped up a triple batch of zucchini/blueberry bread using fruit and veggies from Arlene.  For breakfast I then topped a piece hot from the oven with strawberry jam from Julie - awesome!!

The weather is sunny; not sure what the rest of the day holds, but I'm going to make it a good one!!!

How to be a Middle-Aged Babe!!!

Books were half-off at Gig Harbor Goodwill so I picked up this one - couldn't resist it!!

Gearing Up in Gig Harbor!

Oh this weekend was memorable and full of fun!!  Saturday I was invited to spend at sister Erin's house in Gig Harbor so we, along with brother Todd, could attend a business dinner.  Wasn't sure what to wear so swung by Ross before leaving town, scoring a cute black and purple cocktail dress for $12.49.  Easy on the wallet and the eye!

Finding Erin's neighborhood was easy but finding her house was hard.  The GPS was no help...it kept stating "Arrived at destination" when obviously I hadn't!  After cruising around looking for the mailbox address, driving in the turn lanes of the highway because I was going so slow, and hanging out at the elementary school while I searched for better directions, I ended up parking at the Gig Harbor Grange and called Erin for specific directions.  I was so happy to have found her place, due in part that a pee break was seriously needed!

Erin wouldn't be home for a bit, so, after some initial barking by her doggie Ruger, we ended up bonding on her back deck with her newest lab pup Scout.  When Erin arrived, we talked and laughed then got dressed for the business outing.

It was definitely more of a party than a business dinner.  It was being held right next to the Tacoma Dome at the LeMay museum, which is filled with classic cars from one man's personal collection.  Cocktail hour was on the lawn, where we were serenaded by a light band, sipped wine, smoked complimentary cigars, and enjoyed ourselves.  It was great seeing Todd, as well as Erin, in action.  They were both keyed in on client and potential client conversations, hobnobbing with prospects, gathering personal and business information that would help them further their business goals.

Following cocktail hour, we were all gestured inside.  We sat at tables then listened to a comedian, who was surprisingly very funny.  Dinner buffet was then served, which was excellent.  After dinner and the speeches, we adjourned to The Murano in Tacoma, meeting up with several other conference participants.  During our talking and laughter, we noticed one, then two, then three beautiful, well-dressed women at the bar.  Were they models?  Hookers?  Single gals?  Finally Erin approached them to find out the story.  They were actually Miss USA, Miss Washington, and another pageant winner whose title I don't remember.  We gathered around for a group picture and they all were so kind.  One of the gals even made the comment "oh, I should have sucked in my tummy more because I feel so bloated!"  Even how gorgeous she was she was still just like one of us gals!!

Arriving back at Erin's house, she, Todd and I sat around and talked and laughed some more.  My stomach is so sore today from laughing!!  It was a great evening and I'm so thankful they invited me to the event.  It was a blast and I enjoyed seeing Todd and Erin in working action.

This morning I left Erin's house, stopped at Gig Harbor Goodwill to see what kind of bargains there were to be had, then made my way home, where I promptly took a nap.  It was quite an adventure-filled weekend and this diva had a great time!!!

Diva Dinner Followed by Sibling Supper!!

Last night the Blue Jacket Divas met up at Applebees for a Friday night get-together.  So much fun!  We were surprised to see one of our old co-workers and his wife were there, who decided to join us for a bit.  It was great talking about the good old days!  We talked, and laughed, and talked, and reminisced, and made plans for a BJD beach outing in September!  Arrived home around 10:30, which is late for this early morning riser, but it was a great time.
The BJD's!!

Today after receiving an awesome dinner invite from my sis Erin, I'll be cruising to Gig Harbor to spend time with her and my bro Todd.  Can't wait, although not quite sure which outfit to wear.  I'm currently feeling beyond bloated, which may be due in part to the Long Island Ice Tea and peach sangria I drank last night.  I wonder if there are little black dresses available in the maternity section, which would be able to conceal my bloated gut nicely!!
Todd and Erin, ready to party!!!

It's Almost Friday!!!

This week has been busy!!  I've been to the gym 5 days this week and the last two my friend Susan joined me for a workout.  I also started tanning....I know, I know, not good for me but couldn't resist.  I still had over 200 minutes at a place so started going there before I hit the gym.  It will be nice not to have my legs glowing due to their bright whiteness!

Out of the blue my friend Perla text me to set up a dinner Friday night with the rest of the Blue Jacket Divas. Can't wait and should be fun!!!

The one downside to this week was they found the missing woman from Oregon, Jennifer Huston, deceased....so sad.  Poor mom who was overwhelmed apparently so committed suicide.  Who knows why she took this step but it was so sad after everyone worked together to try and find her.  I don't know these people but I feel for them and they are in my prayers.

Here's to everyone having a wonderful weekend!!

Being Honest With Myself Can Hurt

It's hard to make a difficult decision when you know the outcome is to hurt someone.  The time I've had with Michael has been so memorable, wonderful, and enriching; however, the last year has been a roller coaster of emotions.  And while I wish him only the best and pray for his health to improve, I had to become honest with not only him but with myself and make the anguishing decision that we not remain together.  I'll always love him for being the person who he is, for the time we shared, and for the memories we made.  I hope he will always remain my friend as he is truly a one-of-a-kind human being.

For now, my next steps are to work on myself - rid myself of the habits that aren't acceptable, continue working out to achieve a healthy me, and try to live optimistically and positively one day at a time.
