Introducing.....The Hair

Okay, here's the new hair!  It was a long, involved, day-long process but I'm enjoying it!

I met up with Diva Sister Julie yesterday for lunch before heading over to Hood River for my appointment.  I was early, so I spent some time in downtown HR browsing the various shops.  I then arrived to Cappricio's for "the process" right at 1pm.

First, Laura (the owner) colored, trimmed and straightened my own hair.  After that, the extension session began.  We decided to go with the "wavy" rather than "straight" hair as that is more of my natural texture.  Laura brought out about 3-4 different colors of hair; her assistant/mom then helped her out by blending different colors and handing them to Laura to apply.  It involved gluing the hair to my own hair, which was interesting.

This morning before I got a bit
trimmed from the length
After applying all the extensions, she then further cut my hair to layer it.  The whole process took a very long time.  I think I left the salon about 6:30 pm.  Whew!  Laura said once I wash it for the first time (Monday) my hair will kind of volumize and blend more into my regular hair.  This is due to the fact that the extension hair is pressed when it is applied.  I also picked up shampoo and conditioner along with some Moroccan oil to keep the hair moisturized, which will ensure the extensions will last longer.

I has really felt weird to have longer hair, almost like I am undercover or something.  My son Sam was a little weirded out by my new look but Jordan won bonus points by saying "Gee Mom, we will be having to turn back all the guys coming to the house to date you!"  Awwww....

It was a tad uncomfortable sleeping as the extension "numbs" pressed against my head.  I slept more on my side rather than my back and used more pillows than normal.

This morning when I got up, I decided the length was just a little too long for me.  It was on the verge of porn hair rather than long hair so I decided to swing by a salon in town to get a few inches snipped off.  When I entered the salon, someone hollered my name.  It was Diva Susan getting her hair trimmed, along with her hubby.  They were as surprised to see my hair as I was to see them!  I showed Susan, along with the stylists, my extensions they were all really impressed by the look along with the matching of the color to my own hair.  The stylist insisted on taking down Capriccios number as she was so impressed with the results she wants to go there to get her own set of fake hair.

So, I'm still getting used to it.  I forget I have it then look in the mirror and bam!  Long hair!  I'm anxious to see what they say at work!  But you know what?  I think they have come to expect a lot of Diva out of this gal so they won't be too surprised.

I'm shoving it all to one side*

*Like that shirt?  I got a ton of compliments on it today.  I actually bought it for $3.99 at Goodwill then sewed the fringe applique on it.  I just love me a couture bargain!!
